Negotiating Skills for Design Professionals

Mark Heley – Heley, Duncan & Melander, PLLP
Mark Heley practices in the areas of construction law and dispute resolution. He represents owners, design professionals, contractors and sureties in a broad range of claims. Mark’s experience includes contract negotiations, claims and litigation on landmark projects such as the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, the Mall of America, Washington National Airport, St. Paul International Airport and the Hiawatha Light Rail Transit Corridor. Mark also provides dispute resolution services, with extensive experience as an arbitrator and mediator of complex construction, real estate and commercial matters. He frequently lectures on topics relating to construction and alternative dispute resolution, and has made presentations both nationally and locally. He served as Chair of the Minnesota State Bar Association’s Construction Section, and currently sits on the Governing Committee of the American Bar Association’s Forum on the Construction Industry.

Troy Johnson – Loss Prevention Supervisor, Kraus-Anderson Insurance
Troy has been a safety professional since 1988. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stout, with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology, and a Master’s Degree in Safety. Troy is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and has both the ARM and ALCM designations. He is an OSHA Construction Outreach Instructor and maintains his contractor license.
